Under the trade names MERKUR and VARA, MERKUR produces white pharmaceutical petroleum jellies for the customers. The products consist of highly refined mixtures of petroleum-based hydrocarbons. White pharmaceutical petroleum jellies are primarily used as base materials and for increasing consistency in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. By means of high-pressure hydrogenation during production, we ensure that the petroleum jellies are freed from impurities and acquire the desired colour. All products possess good resistance to heat and light. Very closely defined physical properties such as congealing point and viscosity also guarantee our customers consistent quality in their finished products. White pharmaceutical petroleum jellies are generally recognised as safe (GRAS). The products are not known to have any allergenic or skin irritation effects or other side effects.
