When handling bulk materials, the scissor grab is suiatable for cranes with manual, semi or fully automatic operation at high handling performances.

In some cases, dead weight requires less than 35% of the crane's effective safe working load. Having a large spread, the lips are moving nearly horizontally, thus achieving optimum trimming results. The closing stroke is short, the lip force increases during the closing motion. The suspension is to be found high above the center of gravity. The grabs position is stable, even when handling sticky material. In spite of its low dead weight, the scissor grab is torsion-resistant. The scoop pivot point is free of tension and requires only little maintenance. Like the rope sheaves, it has been furnished with roller bearings. Uneven closing rope lenghts are compensated inside the grab, by means of a lever.
